It was in1972 that heeding to the invitation of Arch Bishop Eugene D’Souza of Bhopal that the Sisters of St. Charles made their entry to Hoshangabad under the able guidance of the then provincial Rev. mother Benedicta. In the initial stage the sisters had to go through a lot of hurdles but always experienced the powerful hand of God following them. Though the proposal to start an English medium school for the diocese was rejected by the council as we aware more interested in the poorer sections of the society, and did start a Hindi medium school in the land that we purchased at Saraswatinagar.- The new convent building was blessed on November 17, 1888.

Today the sisters of St. Charles have higher secondary Schools for both in English & Hindi medium. There has been remarkable decrease in the students for Hindi medium as they prefer the CBSE board& English medium. The Hindi medium is being stopped gradually. The sisters also take up pastoral & social activities and also few boarders were catered to. The society had purchased a plot of land of 5 acres in Ittarsi for further development and now a plot of land of 8 acres is being purchased in view of a new school in Seoni Malva about 25 kms away from Hozangabad.
