The Origin Of The Congregation Of The Sisters Of St.Charles Borromeo

The congregation of the Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo of Wez-Velvain was founded in 1684, by Rev. Fr. Adrian Bresy, Parish priest of Wez in the diocese of Tournai. Belgium, this beloved pastor passed into eternity on the First Day of Jun 1699. The only memoir of our Founder that remained to this day is Epitaph. The most remarkable virtues our Fr. Adrian Bresy practiced was humility, Meekness, and Hospitality, his pastoral Zeal was unbounded.

The Province's Motto

The motto of the province is to start a fresh from Christ and rise anew each day to let the fire burn as it is the motto also of the Fr. Constant Leavens the Saint of Chotanagpur. The province has grown steadily & gradually and has 18 communities with 115 sisters working in the remotest villages & rural settings. The same motto was further expressed in the provincial chapter 2011 with a young Sapling as a symbol.
“Drawing the vital sap from Jesus the True Vine, the sisters of St. Charles become mystics, prophets & servants to give life to the broken world and restore harmony of the mother Earth for the future generations”. The symbol represents the young province and the divine protection experienced by every sister. Every aspect of t picture gives a vivid meaning, that everything in the universe is a gift from the creator.

Vocation Promotion

Religious vocation is a special grace that God gives to certain persons.Calling them to a life of the evangelical councils – by John A. harson SJ. We see in the Bible how God calls the prophets and for what he calls.Yes they were the mouthpiece or spokesmen of God, the prophet’s primary duty is to speak God’s message to the people, the broadest meaning is that of forth telling; the narrower meaning is that of foretelling.
