A sister house for Kuru was indeed a necessity and Divine Providence made it possible in the year 1991. A ‘ Kacha ‘ village road from Gumla leads to the quiet fertile land of Kereng Anyone at their first visit will fall in love with the quiet yet beautiful nature of this village. The compassionate love of Jesus is really transmitted to the poor, the sick and needy through the selfless service of the sisters.
It was a coincidence indeed; when the sisters of St. Charles were contemplating the need of having a sister house to Kuru. , the Salesian fathers were also looking for some sisters to help them in their mission at Kereng especially in health care of the people. Later the sisters approached the Archbishop with their plan and Kereng was suggested to us.
Late Rev. Sr. Rene the then provincial along with Srs. Victoria, Stan & Sabina visited Kereng village and were warmly welcomed by Rev. Fr. Jose and the people. On January Sr. Rene decided to build a small house for the sisters as Fr.Jose was persistent in having our sisters there. The blessing of the house was held on August 18, 1991by his grace Rt. Rev. Telesphore P. Toppo. The pioneers Srs Sabina & Gracy Pothan were welcomed by the people. . Within a few days they got involved in the struggles of the local people and began their apostolate with great enthusiasm and zeal.
On May 28 1993 the foundation was laid for the new convent building and it was blessed by Rt. Rev. Michalle on October 29, 1994.
